Shahroo Izadi

Shahroo Izadi Introduction

Shahroo is behavioural change specialist, coach, speaker and author. Her approach is influenced by the experience that she gained working in various roles across the frontline addiction treatment field in clinical, community and prison settings. She has since been dedicated to highlighting what those in long-term recovery from substance misuse can teach the general population about motivation, self-compassion and self-awareness. She openly shares how the same tools that she used effectively with clients in active addiction helped her to end a lifetime of yo-yo dieting, transform her disordered eating behaviours learned from quick-fix dieting, build her self-esteem and lose 8 stone.

Amongst her various roles, Shahroo is a relapse management coach and group facilitator at Amy's Place, a recovery house for women in recovery from substance misuse set up by The Amy Winehouse Foundation. She has delivered personal development workshops at The School of Life; provided training and consultancy services to the UK’s leading health and social care organisations and worked alongside Westminster MIND, training Wellbeing Coaches who use their own experience of mental health recovery to support others in their communities...

Shahroo's work came to the attention of mainstream personal development when a series of articles was published in The Pool by journalist Marisa Bate, who she helped to transform her relationship with alcohol.

Her effective and non-judgemental approach to habit-change has most recently been featured on BBC Radio, Red Magazine, Psychologies, The Telegraph, The Pool, Marie Claire, Grazia, Metro, Good Housekeeping, Evening Standard and Forbes to name a few.

Her first book, The Kindness Method was released in June 2018 and has so far been translated into 5 languages. She was named as one of Red Magazine's Smart Women of 2018 and selected for Marie Claire’s 2019 verified Power List. Her second book, The Last Diet was published in the UK on ‪December 26th and became a bestseller. In November 2019 she was given the ‘Thought Leader of the Year’ Award at House of Lords in London.

Shahroo’s mission is to demonstrate the power of self-compassion when it comes to making lasting, meaningful changes to our habits.
