Biography

Nikita Kuzmin is a six-time Italian Champion in Latin and Ballroom dance and choreographer, best known as a professional dancer on BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing. 

Born in Ukraine, Nikita left his home country at 9 years old to follow his dance career. It was during his nine years in Italy that Nikita became a six-time Italian Champion in Latin and Ballroom dance. 

Nikita moved to Germany aged eighteen, where he started working at fellow Strictly alumni Motsi Mabuse’s dance studio before landing a spot as a professional dancer on Let’s Dance – Germany’s version of Strictly Come Dancing – in 2020. Within a year Nikita was taken on as a professional dancer on the BBC version.

Nikita has been a professional dancer on Strictly Come Dancing since 2021. Nikita has managed to reach the final twice, with Layton Williams and in the last series with Amber Davis.  Nikita and Layton reunited for a LIVE dance extravaganza – ‘Layton & Nikita – LIVE!’, where the pair performed to packed out audiences in Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall as well as the iconic Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. 

In 2025 Nikita fulfilled a lifelong ambition and embarked on his first ever live solo UK and Ireland tour ‘The Midnight Dancer’. Fans loved it and he is about embark up on a follow up tour Supernova. Playing thirty-eight nights all over the country. 

Stepping out of the world of dance, 2024 saw Nikita enter the Celebrity Big Brother House. It allowed him to show a different side of himself, popular both with housemates and viewers alike, he secured a second-place finish.

Beyond stage and screen Nikita’s interests include cooking, marathon training, video games and he is a keen animal lover. His real love of animals has led to a home full of four-legged friends. His three cats – Leo, Bagheera and Jelly, and dog Mabel who joined the household in 2026.

Since his diagnosis with Type One diabetes at age thirteen, Nikita has looked at ways to raise a wider awareness around the condition, keen to inspire young children – sending the message that it does not have to restrict your ambitions and dreams.  He has run several marathons including The Rome Marathon, The Midnight Sun Marathon in Norway, and The London Marathon 2026 on behalf of Diabetes UK, raising funds for the charity where he is an active ambassador.
